Jeanna Beard

Beard was born in Washington, D.C., and attended high school in Maryland. She holds a
B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Maryland, and a Master’s of
Science in Environmental Monitoring and Management, which she earned at the
University of Loughborough in the U.K. Beard began playing rugby 15 years ago, and
hooker for the Merlins. Her father John Beard retired Senior Chief Petty Officer from the
United States Navy, and worked for the National Security Agency during the Cold War.
Beard’s mother Yoshiko, who is originally from Japan, is a currently retired adventurer
who raised three kids – including Jeanna.
