The women playing Division I rugby are the future of women’s rugby in Denver. Many players have the goal of developing their game in order to compete on the elite women’s team in the future. The Merlins D1 Women’s Rugby team compete against teams playing in USA Rugby’s Division I.

Women’s Merlins – Our Season By the Numbers
The last time I wrote about our Women’s Merlins team, it was the start of our WPL season. We had just lost our first match against Life West Gladiatrix and the team was off to a bit of a rocky start. Quickly thereafter, though, the team sat down and assessed itself. They came to some very insightful and helpful conclusions about what it really means to act as a team and, of course, win as a team. Since then, the Merlins WPL side has gone 7-0 outscoring their opponents by more than 200 points.

The Glendale Women’s Premier League season kicked off this past weekend with a very physical match against the Life West Gladiatrix at home on the Infinity Park turf fields. We knew going into this match that it would be one of our toughest of the season. Both teams are heavily stacked with capped Women’s Eagles players and both teams were eager to get started on the right foot. But, we knew that it would all come down to which team would be able to execute their game plan more effectively.
